The Attorney General is the advisor to the Government in matters of law and legal opinion and provides the State with drafting and legislative services. The Office of the Attorney General is seeking to recruit Advisory Counsels (Grade III).
Reporting to the Advisory Counsel (Grade I), the Advisory Counsel (Grade III) will assist and advise the Attorney General in carrying out her functions. The role involves specialist advisory work in the fields of domestic, European and International law, participation in the formulation of legislation and legal policy, representing the State in international fora and advising on the conduct of litigation in which the State is involved. Those appointed will also be expected to give legal advice to Government Departments and Offices.
The successful candidates will be qualified to act as Barristers or Solicitors in the State and will have significant practising experience, including advocacy in a court setting and the ability to analyse complex issues.
A panel will be formed from which future vacancies may be filled.
