PILA works to inspire and engage lawyers in pro bono work by supporting a culture of legal practice that actively delivers free legal assistance to those who are unable to pay for or access legal help.
For NGOs and community organisations tackling social problems, there is huge potential for using the law as a tool in addressing the needs of individuals and communities experiencing poverty, disadvantage and exclusion. Lack of access to legal expertise can reduce the impact of these organisations and act as a barrier to solving critical societal challenges.
Through our Pro Bono Referral Scheme we build the capacity that drives the pro bono movement in Ireland, ensuring that both lawyers and social justice organisations have the skills, knowledge and networks to address systemic problems and achieve effective social change.
