The Salvation Army: “Houben House Official Opening Day” – Friday 16th August @ 10am

The Salvation Army is inviting you to the official opening of Houben House! You will be welcomed in 15-minute time slots. Staff and residents will guide you through various information points, providing insights into how the home is organised.

The event is honoured to have Dr. Niall Muldoon, the Ombudsman for Children, who will officially open Houben House for us at 12 noon! Book your time slot now!

 

The Salvation Army

The most recent figures for homelessness, or those in emergency accommodation, is 14,000 and that includes 4,000 children. Houben House is the largest family hub in Ireland and within The Salvation Army, the largest in Europe.

The Salvation Army opened to the first family in June 2020 and today, has 62 families residing there and are operating at full capacity of 350. There are 17 Irish families currently living there, alongside families from 19 different nations.

The Salvation Army has worked with the most vulnerable in Ireland for over 135 years. With 6 residential centres in Dublin, offering 250,000 bed nights per year.

The Salvation Army believes that every person deserves to experience the fullness of life, notwithstanding their current individual circumstances.

They offer additional services towards long-term independent living, such as Employment Programmes and Addiction Supports for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or those at risk of becoming homeless.
