NASC: Advocacy Service Manager – deadline Monday 18 December @ 16.00

This is a full-time position with a fixed-term (24 months) contract which may be renewed subject to funding. A six-month probation period will apply.

Salary range: €46,000 – €52,500 depending upon experience.

Work Schedule: This contract will involve working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (some flexibility may be required)

Location: Cork City (remote working is not available for this role).

Main Purposes of the Role

The Advocacy Service Manager in Nasc will be responsible for:

  • The efficient management and administration of Nasc’s Advocacy Service

  • Ensuring that the Advocacy Service upholds the dignity and respect of all of our service users.

  • Contributing to the delivery of Nasc’s objectives as outlined in Nasc’s strategic Plan 2019-2021.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management

  • Supervision of staff

  • Casework

  • Other:

  • Maintain own knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures to perform the role effectively.

  • Ensure that the Advocacy Service is compliant with relevant legal requirements eg Child Protection, Safeguarding and Data Protection.

  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time in connection with this position.

 

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must on or before the closing date:

  • Have management or leadership experience at an appropriate level, including leading a team.

  • Have demonstrated experience in managing projects.

  • Have demonstrated experience in complying with funder reporting requirements;

  • Have demonstrated experience in managing own caseload.

  • Have demonstrated that they possess the skills/competencies identified as being important for the role.

  • Have demonstrated legal research skills and the ability to keep up to date with changing laws and policies.

  • Have demonstrated excellent written and oral communications skills (including the ability to communicate sensitively with vulnerable clients);

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

 

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law or other relevant discipline.

  • Two years’ experience working in a human rights organisation.

  • Experience communicating effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds and deal empathetically with migrants, refugees and international protection applicants.

  • Knowledge of domestic immigration and protection law and policy in Ireland.

  • Competency in a foreign language such as French, Spanish, Arabic, Urdu or Portuguese.

  • Full clean Driving Licence valid in Ireland.

 

Candidates must have the right to work in Ireland at the time of the application and for the duration of the contract of employment.
