The theme of this event is: The Future of Social Enterprise in Rural Ireland. Key moments of the agenda can be found below:

Presentation on Social Enterprise Policy

Panel discussion on Social Enterprise Policy

As we develop the next iteration of the National Social Enterprise Policy for Ireland, we would like you to join us at this Rural Ideas Forum to explore the impact of the first National Social Enterprise Policy for Ireland, and how the next National Social Enterprise Policy can support rural social enterprises into the future.

The discussion will also focus on how fostering the social enterprise sector can address rural Ireland’s pressing challenges and support rural Ireland to take advantage of opportunities.

Presentation on Social Enterprise and Rural Ireland - Baseline Data Collection Exercise

One of the most important measures in the National Social Enterprise Policy was to address the need for improved data relating to the extent of social enterprise in Ireland and the areas in which they operate. Historically, the lack of concrete data has impeded efforts regarding raising awareness, and the provision of supports for the sector.

In response to this, DRCD commissioned a consortium, including Amárach Research, Social Enterprise Republic of Ireland (SERI) and the Irish Local Development Network (ILDN), to conduct the Baseline Data Gathering Exercise of Social Enterprise in Ireland.

John Logue, CEO of SERI will provide an overview of the recently published ‘Social Enterprise in Ireland: A Baseline Data Gathering Exercise’. with a focus on social enterprises operating in rural locations.

Panel discussion – Factors Impacting Rural Social Enterprises

An expert panel will discuss the findings of ‘Social Enterprise in Ireland: A Baseline Data Gathering Exercise’.

There will be a particular focus on what the data tells us about rural social enterprise, and will include an opportunity for those attending to ask questions or contribute to the discussion.

Registration for online participation is required and the number of participants is limited.

Please note the panel discussion will be recorded and made publicly available following the event.
