Aim & Objectives:

Dr Michael O’Flaherty, Director of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, will deliver a policy statement on the challenges which are currently posed to the rule of law in the European Union. The protection of fundamental rights is one of the core values of the EU, however, it faces key obstacles. This event will focus on how to promote and strengthen fundamental rights throughout the EU while, also, exploring the rights and protections at national level offered by the Charter of Fundamental Rights. In short, this one-hour event aims to update Irish lawyers and relevant stakeholders on the challenges which are currently posed to the rule of law in the EU.

This seminar is held in conjunction with the Law Society’s EU and International Affairs Committee and the Law Society’s Human Rights Committee.
