The Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) is delighted to announce the launch of Piecing It Together: Supporting Children and Families with a Family Member in Prison in Ireland

In 2012, the Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) published “Picking up the Pieces”: The Rights and Needs of Families Affected by Imprisonment. This ground-breaking report drew attention to the issues faced by thousands of children and families in Ireland.

Many of the issues IPRT identified in 2012 are still relevant in 2021.

In a new report, Piecing it Together, IPRT re-examines key issues for children and families with a family member in prison, set against the current policy and legislative landscape, to see how much progress has been made to support the rights of children and families since 2012.

We are pleased to announce that Ombudsman for Children, Dr. Niall Muldoon, will launch the report.

Other speakers include Professor Ann Adalist-Estrin, Director of the National Resource Center on Children and Families of the Incarcerated Philadelphia; and Dr. Lorna Brookes, Founder of Time-Matters UK.

A panel discussion with respondents will follow. Additional contributors will be announced shortly on iprt.ie.
