Date:  7 November 2019

Time:  9am-4.30pm

Venue: Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, 123 Saint Stephen's Green, Dublin 2

It has been 40 years since Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) began its work supporting survivors of sexual violence. To mark the occasion, they will host a one-day conference in Dublin’s Royal College of Surgeons on 7 November 2019 entitled ‘Sexual Violence in Ireland: Past, Present and Future.’

The conference will

  • reflect on the origin and role of the Rape Crisis Centre to date.
  • look at services seeking to prevent sexual violence and heal the harm it causes, as well as international obligations and accountability mechanisms.
  • consider society-wide strategies to combat sexual violence in Ireland, with inputs from service providers, educators, policy makers and activists.
  • highlight the voice of survivors of sexual violence in grounding and shaping DRCC’s past, present and future work with interventions from survivors throughout.

This event is aimed at activists, policy makers, survivors and the general public.
