Irish Rule of Law International: Programme Manager & Alternative Justice Programme Officer, Malawi – closing date 14 October

Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI) is a project-orientated, non-profit rule of law initiative of the Law Society and the Bar of both North and South Ireland. Originally founded in 2007, IRLI has collaborated with academics, judges, legal practitioners, policymakers and civil society around the world to advance collective knowledge of the relationship between rule of law, democracy, sustained economic development and human rights. It believe that members of the legal profession have a significant role to play in enhancing the rule of law and shaping the progress of developing societies.

Programme Manager, Malawi

Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI) is looking for a dynamic person to take up the role of IRLI Programme Manager, Malawi. The candidate who will be the core member of this Malawi team. This is a 9-month contract with the possibility of extension and will be based in Malawi.

The PM will be responsible for overall management and oversight of the programme and IRLI Malawi team and reports to and is supported by IRLI’s Executive Director and Programme Coordinator in Dublin.

The successful candidate will have a third level qualification in relevant areas of study and at least 3 years’ experience in working on governance, management, development and/or human rights related issues.

Alternative Justice Programme Officer, Malawi

Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI) is looking for a person to take up the role of IRLI Alternative Justice Programme Officer. The candidate who will be a key member of our Malawi team. This is a 9-month contract with the possibility of extension and will be based in Malawi.

The AJPO will work with IRLI’s programme lawyers, and under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager in Malawi, undertaking activities to reinforce restorative justice mechanisms in Malawi by organising and implementing the Child Diversion Programme and the Community Sensitisation Programme.

The AJPO will also reinforce the capacity of IRLI in Malawi by supporting programme coordination and the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of IRLI’s work in Malawi.

The successful candidate will have a Masters level degree in International Development/Law/Human Rights or related field, and a minimum of one years’ experience in the international development sector.
