Max Schrems:
Austrian born activist and lawyer Max Schrems became a household name after a number of high profile cases against Facebook regarding private data and how Facebook stored and shared that information. The cases he has taken have reached the European Court of Justice and have resulted in the well-known Safe Harbour principles, which are themselves being challenged in court. A further case involving Schrems and Facebook is currently awaiting judgment by the CJEU. By singlehandedly taking on Facebook’s billion dollar industry, Max Schrems has provoked a more conscious approach to data privacy for all countries and data-holders in the modern age.
Ravi Naik:
Ravi Naik is an award-winning lawyer who was named Human Rights Lawyer of the Year in 2018, specialising in data rights and technology. Most notable among his cases are the very first case against Cambridge Analytica as well as a challenge against Facebook, both on questions of data privacy and human rights. Unrivalled in his expertise, Ravi Naik publishes regularly and is often found speaking at events concerning human rights. He currently works for ITN solicitors in London and appeared in the The Great Hack alongside David Carroll.
David Carroll:
David Carroll is an associate professor in media design at Parsons School for Design in New York and recently was a central figure in the Netflix documentary The Great Hack, which concerns the Cambridge Analytica case. His commitment to data privacy led him to take the case against Cambridge Analytica and since the case began, he has worked tirelessly in pursuit of a full investigation of the organisation and in championing data rights generally.
