To launch the Immigrant Council of Ireland’s report, this conference will hear about children and young people’s experiences of navigating the immigration system, accessing legal advice and legal representation and the impact of insecure immigration status on access to education and employment. The particular challenges faced by children who are in the care of the State and child victims of trafficking will be discussed.
The conference programme features guest speakers and a discussion panel which will examine the key findings of the report, and offer insight into the reforms required to protect migrant children and young people in Ireland.
This conference will be relevant to social workers and other child welfare practitioners, young people, NGOs, lawyers, policy makers, legislators, researchers and academics.
