Date: Friday 9 December
Venue: Wood Quay Venue, Dublin City Council Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8.
Time: 09:00 - 13:00
The Event will take place to mark the 16 Days of Action on Violence against Women. We know that one in five women will experience domestic or sexual abuse, but we don’t have a full understanding of the nature and extent of men’s violence against women. How do Traveller women, migrant women, young women and women with disabilities experience domestic and sexual abuse? How many women report their abuse to the Gardai? How many women go to court each year? These questions, and many more besides, are crucial to our understanding of violence against women, and critical if we are to have a gold standard of data collection and analysis by all agencies working in the area of domestic and sexual violence.
Following key notes there will be a panel discussion lead by journalist Dearbhail McDonald.
Speakers include: An Tanaiste and Minister for Justice Ms. Frances Fitzgerald, Lynn Boylan MEP, Christina Olsen, Violence against Women Division, Council of Europe
