New York University School of Law and HEC Paris are seeking qualified applicants for a full time, term limited, non-faculty position as the Executive Director of the EU Public Interest Clinic in Paris.
The main duties of the role will include: reviewing NGO requests for assistance, project management, teaching clinical skills, coordinating the Clinic’s network of pro bono volunteers, engaging in advocacy to promote the clinic’s mission and goals, handling media inquiries, and producing the clinic annual report.
Candidates need to have a law degree, have strong knowledge of EU law and be a qualified lawyer in at least one jurisdiction with at least two years of practical experience. Candidates should also have a good understanding of EU policymaking with a commitment to public interest work. The candidate needs to be outgoing and energetic with an ability to motivate and lead a team of students and pro bono volunteers.
It is also desirable if the candidate has a PhD/previous teaching experience, exposure to US legal education and practice at a large international law firm. Experience of EU regulatory practice and a knowledge of European languages would also be advantageous for applicants.
The initial term of the appointment will be November 1, 2016 to May 1 2017. Subsequently the agreement will be evaluated for renewal annually.
