The Mary Robinson Centre: International Symposium 2016 on The Sustainable Development Goals of Equality, Human Rights and Peace – 1 & 2 July, Mayo

The Mary Robinson Centre International Symposium, in partnership with the Centre for Global Women’s Studies, NUI Galway, and in association with Mayo County Council, is a two day event marking the first year of the implementation of the 17 new Sustainable Development Goals. The SDGs will build on the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals, encompassing a variety of development objectives.

This event will bring together a range of key partners who have an interest in the achievement of the promotion of human rights, equality and women’s participation and leadership in driving forward the implementation of the 17 goals. The symposium is an excellent opportunity to foster network links between leaders, policy decision makers, those in the field of academics, humanitarian and development practitioners, human rights NGOs and others committed to the vision of the SDGs.

Speakers include Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland and UN High Commissioner for Human rights, current UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy on Climate Change, Peter Power, director of UNICEF Ireland, Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia Pacific.

Registration for the event is 95€, with some concessions available for postgraduate students.
