In July 2015, the Irish Government passed the Gender Recognition Act. Since its commencement, at least 130 people have been legally recognised in Ireland. The Gender Recognition Act is set to be reviewed by Government in 2017. The Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) believes that the experiences of trans people must be central to this review. TENI, with the support of Dr Tanya Ní Mhuirthile and the Gender Recognition Act Review Working Group, will be conducting its own review of the Act and they need your help.
TENI is looking for people who have been legally recognised, parents/guardians who have supported their 16 & 17 year old children to be legally recognised and individuals who are currently excluded from the Act but who are seeking legal recognition to take a short and confidential survey that will help them better understand people's experiences of legal gender recognition. This will only take 10 minutes and help them better advocate for inclusive legislation during the Government's review.
