Date 4 June 2015
Time 7.30pm
Venue St Stephen Suite at the Shelbourne Hotel
One Resolves’ First Thursday meeting, on June 4th will revisit the issue of Victim-Offender dialogue, or the process of Restorative Justice. Lead contributors to the discussion will be Deirdre Kenny, Director of Advocacy with One-in-Four, who will speak about the use of this process in the case of sexual offences; and Stephen Doyle, founder of Care after Prison, a former 'lifer' who can describe the experience of attaining reconciliation with the family of a murder victim.
The meeting will be chaired by Pearse Mehigan, solicitor and ONE Resolve mediator, who has considerable experience of the use of mediation in highly charged situations.
Those who work with the justice system in any format are encouraged to attend, including lawyers in fields of practice other than criminal law. Those interested in improving mediation skills will recognise that no category of conflict resolution is more highly charged than that of facilitating communication between Victims and Offenders.
A contribution of €20 to cover costs for those who can afford it is requested, however lesser contributions will not be refused.
