Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI) is seeking a Volunteer Programme Lawyer to join its Access to Justice Programme in Lilongwe, Malawi. Since August 2011, IRLI has been working in Malawi to address capacity challenges within the criminal justice sector with the overall aim of promoting the rule of law and improving access to justice for unrepresented and particularly vulnerable persons.
The Programme Lawyer will work with the Malawi Police Service and will undertake activities to manage and implement IRLI's Training Programme on the Treatment of Child Suspects and the Concepts of Restorative Justice. The selected candidate will join IRLI’s team of volunteer lawyers in Lilongwe who are working also in the Legal Aid Bureau, with the Judiciary and in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The placement is for a period of one year commencing Monday 8 June 2015. Travel expenses, health insurance and accommodation costs will be provided for, in addition to a monthly volunteer living allowance.
