Irish Rule of Law International invites you to an interview with broadcaster John Simpson, hosted by the Law Society of Ireland.
John Simpson is an accomplished journalist, broadcaster, columnist and author and is currently the World Affairs Editor at the BBC. During his career, he has reported from more than 125 countries, including 41 active war zones, and has interviewed some of the world’s most famous and controversial leaders, such as Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Colonel Gaddafi.
Throughout his career, John Simpson has received a number of awards, cementing his position as one of the world’s most experienced and authoritative journalists. He received a CBE in the Gulf War honours list in 1991, won an Emmy for his BBC Ten O’Clock News report on the fall of Kabul and has received three BAFTAs.
John Simpson will be interviewed by RTE Primetime reporter Richard Downes. Richard joined RTÉ in 1999 after a decade of working as a foreign correspondent for the BBC in war zones and developing countries. During his time at RTÉ, he spent time presenting Morning Ireland on RTE Radio 1 and working as a correspondent in the Middle East, Africa and Washington.
