The University of Ulster is hiring a permanent Lecturer in Law to be associated with the Ulster Law Clinic at the Jordanstown campus. The School of Law at Ulster has a mission to foster intellectual growth, critically informed social engagement, and excellence in practical academic and legal skills. It has a well-earned reputation for the high quality of its teaching, with an NSS student satisfaction rating of over 90%, and in research terms Law at Ulster ranks within the top 15 UK law schools.
The School, through its award winning Ulster Law Clinic with associated LLM in Clinical Legal Education, has developed a focus on ‘Access to Justice: Meeting unmet legal need’. The postholder will contribute through relevant LLM teaching and REF eligible research to the support and development of this focus. The Ulster Law Clinic provides advice and representation to members of the public with social security and employment law problems and may develop to provide similar support in cognate areas.
The post will also involve the teaching of Law on a range of undergraduate courses within the School at the Jordanstown campus as per School needs which currently include Criminal Law, Equity and Evidence. The postholder will have an opportunity to develop an optional module in his/her own research area. The postholder will have a demonstrable interest in legal pedagogy and research interests linked to the academic theme of ‘Access to Justice’.
