Lecturer Fixed Term, Part-Time in Human Rights, NUI Galway – deadline 7 August 2014

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a fixed term appointment as a Lecturer in Human Rights.  The post-holder will have particular responsibility for administration of the BA Connect with Human Rights programme. This undergraduate programme offers human rights in addition to the traditional two subjects normally studied for a BA degree.  The programme is of four years duration with the option in third year for applied human rights work in Ireland or abroad. The successful candidate will hold a PhD degree or will have submitted a completed doctoral thesis, have the necessary expertise in international human rights law to teach and supervise students at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels, and have demonstrated the ability to conduct independent research. Applications from individuals with a background in the administration of undergraduate teaching and placement programmes are especially welcome.

The person will be required to contribute to other teaching and administrative duties.

This post is in the Irish Centre for Human Rights within the School of Law. The Irish Centre for Human Rights is one of the leading international university-based institutions for the study and promotion of human rights, international criminal law and humanitarian law.

Salary: €36,230 to €51,104 p.a.  (This appointment will be made on the Lecturer Fixed Term scale in line with current Government pay policy)
