Position: Solicitor
Responsibilities: The solicitor will be employed to provide legal advice and representation to persons seeking international protection in Ireland. The solicitor may also be asked to contribute to legal research and policy work being undertaken by the Law Centre.
Location: Irish Refugee Council, Ballast House, Aston Quay, Dublin 2.
Hours: 28 hours on a four day per week basis.
Salary scale: €24,000 - €32,000 p.a. (30,000 - €30,000 - €40,000 p.a. pro rata).
Duration: 12 months (renewable subject to funding).
Commencing: February 2014

Job Specification:
The successful candidate should possess the following skills:
· Professional qualification as a solicitor (with a right to work and practice in the Republic of Ireland)
· More than one year PQE
· Detailed knowledge of refugee or human rights law and practice
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Experience managing own case load, adhering to deadlines & drafting legal submissions
· Ability to communicate appropriately with vulnerable clients
· Experience interacting with a range of organisations, public & government officials preferable
· Strong legal research skills & ability to keep up to date with changing laws and practices
· Highly organised with good IT skills.
