Project Coordinator - Global Parliamentary Network for the Prevention of Mass Atrocities ("GPN")
Key Responsibilities
• To coordinate and organise the launch of the GPN in April 2014.
• Develop and manage a major online platform or website which will act as central information point for the parliamentary network which will include informative content on atrocity prevention and the Responsibility to Protect (“R2P”) initiative as relevant to parliamentarians.
• To contribute and coordinate to the development and publication of a Best Practice Handbook.
• Liaising between the GPN members and its external stakeholders.
• Undertaking research to monitor relevant developments and to keep members informed.
• Managing the budget line, delivery and fundraising for the GPN.
• Liaising with the media, maintaining the GPN website and sending regular updates to GPN members.
• Provide the secretariat to the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Prevention of Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity.
• Liaise with key MPs and peers on relevant legislation, events and campaigns.
• Provide updates, resources; write and monitor Parliamentary Questions and debate.
• Conduct research into Members’ interests and over-see contact information.
Essential Experience
• A relevant degree or post graduate qualification.
• 2yrs'+ work experience in a similar if not the same field.
• Strong experience of working with people at all levels, including parliamentarians, government officials and their staff.
• Ability to assimilate and understand complex information and issues, including legislation and other policy documents and research findings.
• Excellent diplomatic, networking and persuasion skills, including consensus building skills.
• Excellent presentation skills: ability to think clearly and deliver a presentation or key point credibly, fluently and effectively.
• Strong IT skills and good knowledge of social media.
• A project management qualification.
