This year marks 150 years of the Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement.  150 years of humanitarian action both on the ground with practical assistance for people in need and 150 years in the development of international humanitarian law (IHL) to protect civilians as well as the sick and injured in armed conflict.

On 17 October the Irish Red Cross in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will host a conference entitled ‘Contemporary Challenges in International Humanitarian Law’.
