• The typology of armed conflicts and the issues arising relating to the deployment of multinational forces in operations which are diverse in scope with multifaceted operational goals.
• The civilianisation of armed conflict and the obstacles to humanitarian assistance this creates as well as the seeming abandonment of principles of precaution by some parties to armed conflicts.
• New technologies including cyber-warfare; the use of remote controlled weapons systems and the development of automated weapons systems and autonomous systems.
• Conflation of armed conflict and terrorism.
Abstracts should be submitted on this application form to the following email address: ihlconference@redcross.ie by close of business, 3 September 2013. Authors will be informed of acceptance by 12 September 2013.
