21st Century Technology: Stretching the Limits and Notions of our Right to Privacy - 8 September, Dublin

This September the Law Society of Ireland will host a conference on privacy. The conference, 21st Century Technology: Stretching the Limits and Notions of our Right to Privacy, will take place on Saturday, 8 September, 2012.

The purpose of the conference is to consider how 21st century technology has impacted on the right to privacy over the past decade and whether or not steps need to be taken to promote awareness of and to protect this most fundamental right, in the light of advances in technology.

Date:  Saturday, 8  September, 2012.

Time:  9:00am – 12:30pm

Venue:  The Presidents’ Hall, Law Society of Ireland, Blackhall Place.

Fee:  There is no charge for this event. CPD points will be available.

Speakers include: Mr. Gary Davis, Deputy Data Protection Commissioner, Mr. Paul C. Dwyer, Cyber Security Expert, Dr. Denis Kelleher, Barrister-at-Law and author of Privacy and Data Protection Law in Ireland and Professor Roy Greenslade, Professor of Journalism at City University London, journalist with 48 years of experience, media commentator, author and witness at the Leveson Inquiry. Mr. TJ McIntyre, Lecturer in Law, University College Dublin, will chair the event.
