As mentioned in the previous issue of the PILA Bulletin the Free Legal Advice Centres Ltd (FLAC) has partnered with the Aire Centre in London, and Radboud University in the Netherlands, on an EU Commission funded project to address EU migrants' access to special non-contributory benefits.
A round-table event will be held from 9.45am - 4pm on Thursday 1 March 2012 at Jurys Inn, Custom House Quay, Dublin 1. This round-table is the second in a series of three; the first was held in London in January 2012, and the third will be held in Amsterdam in April 2012.
The round-table will provide an excellent opportunity for individuals working in the sector of EU free movement, migration, welfare and social security to come together and share their experiences and best practice. The objective is for all participants to gain a fuller understanding of the issues and challenges around special non-contributory benefits, and for the project partners to develop advocacy and policy tools based on the issues identified.
Sessions, led by key practitioners in the area, will consider key issues faced by organisations based in Ireland and beyond, as well as updates from the London round-table on cases concerning pregnant women and victims of domestic violence and the right to reside test.
Places are limited so please confirm attendance to Esther Lieu at the AIRE Centre on elieu@airecentre.org or telephone 00 44 (0)20 7831 4276 by Friday 10 February.
