Amnesty International are seeking application for someone with strong leadership and communication skills as well as a commitment to human rights, activism and young people's participation.
The post holder will be responsible for increasing awareness, membership, participation, activism and leadership with Amnesty International by young people and students in universities and non-formal education.
Main responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the promotion of Amnesty and membership among young people in Ireland through the delivery of attractive campaigning and activism opportunities and events
- Support and develop the Amnesty youth and student groups, in order to improve the coordination of actions and events and to ensure effective activity and impact
- Recruit, support and provide training for teachers, youth leaders and school speakers to run Amnesty activities in their area
- Develop, maintain and update innovative communications and campaign materials aimed at young people and students such as website, newsletters, campaigning materials, leaflets, posters, information fact sheets, campaign resources and other relevant materials
Person specification
- Strong writing skills with experience of developing high quality materials for youth and student audiences.
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and group facilitation
- Experience of effectively organising and marketing
- Experience in and/or demonstrated interest in human rights and actvisim
- Experience of online tools, including website content management systems and strong knowledge of emerging technologies that build online communities in the use of databases
