Lawyer or Senior Lawyer vacancy at INTERIGHTS, deadline 10 October 2011

For over 25 years INTERIGHTS has played a leading role in promoting human rights through the use of international and comparative law. We have pursued this through strategic litigation and a range of complementary capacity building activities, working with lawyers, judges and civil society partners worldwide. INTERIGHTS currently focuses its activities in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and thematically on economic and social rights, equality and security and the rule of law.

INTERIGHTS requires a Lawyer or Senior Lawyer with good experience of working in the human rights sector on Economic and Social Rights (ESR) and litigating human rights cases on ESR issues. The Lawyer must have substantial litigation experience using regional and international human rights instruments, as well as an in-depth or sophisticated understanding of international and comparative human rights law, mechanisms and institutions.

This is a rewarding and challenging role that requires excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English, a Law degree (or another degree with post graduate diploma in law); applicants must have been admitted to legal practice. The successful applicant must have sensitivity to working in a multicultural environment and commitment to promoting respect for equality and diversity.
