The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees National Office in Ireland is currently advertising for a six month, full time, unpaid internship with the External Relations Unit.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be very involved in activities of the External Relations unit, as well as the opportunity to learn about the organisation and protection activities of UNHCR in Ireland and internationally. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn about UNHCR's work and Mandate at the international level, in the EU and in Ireland. The successful candidate will also receive on-the-job training and complete self-study modules. Key duties and responsibilities will include developing and maintaining content for UNHCR Ireland's website and social media channels ; assisting with development and running of external relations events; monitoring Irish media reporting of refugee and asylum matters and assisting in the preparation of material for the media. General computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), strong web updating and social media skills (some knowledge of HTML an advantage) and strong verbal communication and writing skills in English are essential for the position. Experience and interest in organizing and running events ,analytical and drafting skills and good intercultural communication skills with an ability to work as part of a team are also relevant.
