This November is the 60th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights. To mark the occasion the Council of Europe has set up a panel consisting of high level personalities to answer questions in relation to human rights. There will also be celebrations held in November for the anniversary.
The European Convention on Human Rights was adopted in 1950 and came into full force three years later. The Convention gives practical form to certain rights and freedoms which are embodied in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and also provides a list of guaranteed rights.
