Transparency Legal Advice Centre (TLAC) is a not-for-profit, independent law centre registered with the Law Society of Ireland. We specialise in providing legal advice to workers in Ireland who are considering disclosing, or have already disclosed, suspected wrongdoing in their workplace under the Protected Disclosures Acts or as otherwise provided for in law. TLAC was established by Transparency International Ireland (TI Ireland), the Irish chapter of the global coalition against corruption. We work closely with TI Ireland and collaborate with and advise them on matters of mutual concern.

Primary Purpose of the Role

TLAC and TI Ireland are seeking to recruit a Legal and Office Assistant to support the effective delivery of legal services to clients, and administration. The position will report to the TI Ireland Chief Executive, TLAC Solicitors and Senior Helpline Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wishes to work in a developing and highly topical area of law.

Key Accountabilities

Job specification: key responsibilities (TLAC)

  • Conduct legal research, investigation, and analysis on behalf of TLAC Solicitors
  • Draft various legal documents and other legal correspondence
  • Coordinating general inbound and outbound communication
  • Coordinate filing and case management systems
  • Provide administrative support to TLAC solicitors as required
  • Recruitment coordination
  • Induction of staff
  • Purchasing/Procurement of goods and services
  • Supporting the preparation of narrative and financial reports for donors
  • Supporting the fulfilment of TLAC’s compliance obligations

  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Helpline Coordinator as required
  • Recruitment coordination
  • Induction of staff and volunteers
  • Coordinating general inbound and outbound communication
  • Purchasing/Procurement of goods and services
  • Programme administrative support
  • Coordinate filing systems
  • Office maintenance including refuse collection, cleaning, office security and safety
  • Membership Coordination
  • Scheduling

Essential Requirements

  • Fully fluent in English, with excellent writing skills and clear writing style
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office apps
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

Ideal Requirements

  • Understanding of or experience with the compliance requirements of legal firm or charity
  • Professional or volunteer experience in a not-for-profit environment

  • A flexible approach with the ability to multi-task in a busy environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-starter with the ability to carry out projects from conception to implementation
