The Social Change Initiative Launches New Resource on Litigating for Change

In October 2016 the Social Change Initiative brought together 200 NGO’s, community activists, litigators, academics and funders from 11 different countries. The conference sought to take stock of the progress made and the lessons learnt when using strategic litigation as a tool for social change. The Social Change Initiative is a not-for-profit organisation based in Belfast, whose mission is to improve the effectiveness of activism for social change, particularly in divided societies.

The Social Change Initiative has collated the information, resources and lessons garnered from that conference and is now available on their website under the section: ‘Litigating for Change’. It contains video clips summarising key issues raised at the conference, as well as a range of useful resources for funders and activists who are interested in strategic litigation. There are dedicated sections on Engaging Communities, Maximising & Measuring Impact and Funding Strategic Litigation. The site also contains further resources on litigating for change, including case studies, research reports and practical guides exploring the use of strategic litigation to advance human rights and social change.
