National Women’s Council of Ireland: Women and Local Government & Development Officer – deadline 17 October

The National Women’s Council of Ireland (NWCI) is the leading national women’s membership organisation seeking equality for women. It represents 180 member groups as well as a wide range of individual members from a diversity of backgrounds, sectors and locations. NWCI is recruiting for a Women and Local Government & Development Officer to join the Dublin-based team on a full time basis for a duration of approx. 32 months.

The role involves providing, in accordance with the Strategic Plan, leadership and direction to NWCI’s work to ensure that women’s equality and women’s rights are placed at the heart of local government reform and alignment processes.  The successful candidate will have responsibility for increasing women’s participation in Local Government & Development processes and ensuring NWCI member engagement in all aspects of the work.

Applicants should have a relevant third level qualification, 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role in an NGO, experience of promoting an organisation to a diverse audience, experience of policy development and representation, knowledge of local authorities and local development structures. Desirable qualities and skills include communication, marketing and analytical skills, negotiation and facilitation skills, programme and project management skills etc.
