CAN launches film on Collective Complaint process brought by tenants of Local Authority estates

Community Action Network (CAN) has launched a film documenting the process of taking a Collective Complaint for tenants of Local Authority estates called, ‘Keep Your Eyes on the Prize’.

It tells the story of the Collective Complaint lodged with the Council of Europe in 2014 on behalf of tenants in 20 Local Authority estates across Ireland. The Complaint argues that conditions in many homes on these estates violate the rights of residents under the Revised European Social Charter – particularly their right to health, right to social, legal and economic protection, and right to protection against poverty and social exclusion. The film also outlines how this process can be used for other population groups whose human rights are not being respected, protected or fulfilled.
