Amnesty International: Researcher on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (Housing) – deadline 23 September 2016

Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 7 million people in over 150 countries and territories who campaign for human rights. Amnesty International is seeking a Researcher/Adviser to lead on the development and implementation of research, policy positions and advocacy strategies on our work involving the right to adequate housing. The post is based in London and is on a 12 month fixed-term basis.

The role involves being the lead expert on the right to adequate housing for Amnesty International. The role will include conducting investigations, providing expert advice, developing Amnesty’s policy positions and advocacy strategies, developing third party submissions on right to housing issues to submit to national and regional courts, and representing Amnesty International to government officials, partner organisations and the media.

The successful candidate should have a proven track record of work on economic, social and cultural rights and, in particular, the right to housing; experience of high-quality field research; ability to lead, organise and conduct research missions and produce outputs; have experience in human rights policy development on the right to housing; and advocacy experience with governments, UN and other intergovernmental bodies.
