Adoption Authority of Ireland: Legal Advisor/Solicitor – deadline 16 September 2016

The Adoption Authority of Ireland is the official state organisation responsible for granting declarations of eligibility and suitability to prospective adopters in advance of their adoption.

The AAI is seeking a solicitor who has wide-ranging experience in family law. The basic responsibilities will include organising routine legal operations and acting as an advisor to the Board of the Adoption Authority of Ireland on legal matters arising from applications placed before it.

The role of the Legal Advisor/Solicitor includes the following responsibilities

  • Case management of all litigation and routine legal operations referred to the High Court under Sections 18, 26, 30, 53, 54 and 92 of the Adoption Act 2010
  • Preparations and presentation of relevant legal matters to the Board of Authority.
  • Liaison with the Authority’s legal advisors and/or any other party appointed by the Authority to represent it

The successful applicant will possess the following competencies

  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively
  • Ability to analyse information and to compile briefs
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work and to deliver results
  • Accuracy and attention to details
