Focus Ireland: Advice Worker – 8 August 2016

Focus Ireland is seeking to recruit an Advice Worker for a one year, full-time position in its Limerick section, whose primary purpose will be ‘to work directly with people experiencing, or at risk of homelessness with a view to meeting their accommodation needs.’

The main responsibilities of the job will include providing clear and precise information to people in need about homeless accommodation, social welfare and legal rights, referring and placing people in emergency accommodation, to advocate on people’s behalf for housing and to implement the existing policies of Focus Ireland with an aim to realise the organisation’s objectives.

Essential requirements for the job include a working knowledge of homeless services, good knowledge of the social welfare system and have experience helping people to navigate that system, excellent communication skills with an emphasis on written and verbal advocacy and excellent knowledge of the principles of good practice when working with children.

It is also desirable that applicants have a social care qualification or other relevant experience.
