ICI: Legal Research & Information and Legal Support Internships – deadline 15 January

The Immigrant Council of Ireland (ICI) is a non-governmental organisation and Independent Law Centre which provides information, advice and legal representation to persons from a migrant background and their families. The ICI’s aim is to directly assist migrants in navigating the Irish immigration system and, in turn, the ICI uses its experience and expertise to lobby for positive policy and legislative changes within the immigration system and associated areas.

Legal Research Internship

The successful candidate for this position will work with the Legal Service of the Immigrant Council of Ireland and, in particular will provide research and assistance with a particular project related to child migration in Ireland. The candidate will also provide casework support to the legal service, which provides legal advice and representation to migrants and their family members in Ireland.  During the internship the successful candidate will gain a great deal of practical legal research and casework experience.

Information and Legal Support Internship

The successful candidate for this position will work with the Information and Referral Service Team of the Immigrant Council of Ireland to provide direct information, assistance and support to ICI service users. The Information and Referral Service dealt with over 5000 telephone queries last year and the primary purpose of this internship is to provide support to this service to allow it to continue to be an effective source of reliable information to the general public on the immigration system in Ireland. During the internship the successful candidate will gain a great deal of practical experience in dealing with this immigration system.
