Screening, ‘Prosecuting Genocide: The Case for Guatemala’ – 28 October, Dublin (Note change of venue)

Peace Brigades International (PBI) Ireland, Nuevo Dia/Hope Guatemala and Trócaire invite you toProsecuting Genocide: The Case for Guatemala.  In 2013, Guatemala was the first country in the world to domestically convict a former Head of State, Efraín Ríos Montt, of genocide.

The evening will begin with a screening of “La Violencia” by Irish documentary-maker Pia Janning followed by a keynote speech by visiting Guatemalan human rights lawyer Francisco Vivar Martin, a member of the prosecution team in the 2013 Ixil Genocide Trial in Guatemala. A panel discussion will follow with experts in international law and transitional justice.

Tickets: €10 entrance fee, €5 unwaged and €1 asylum seekers. As places are limited pre-registration is strongly advised, please email pbiireland@peacebrigades.org to secure a place. All proceeds will go towards supporting the work of PBI Ireland and Nuevo Día/Hope Guatemala.
