TASC: Senior Policy Analyst – deadline 24 July 2015

TASC is an independent research body which is committed primarily to challenging economic inequality and promoting a flourishing society. Our mission is to inform public policy by publishing rigorously researched reports and academic papers which can influence evidence based decision making.

The person sought will be qualified to PhD level in economics or a related discipline.

A three year contract is available and salary is open to negotiation depending on experience, publications record etc.

The main responsibilities of the post are to:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of TASC’s research and policy programme;
  • Project manage a range of projects assigned, including managing research assistants/interns as necessary;
  • Undertake research and analysis as required, for assigned projects;
  • Ensure that, as part of the team, staff members have timely access to the most current research and data relevant to economic and social issues in the TASC research and policy programme;
  • Provide short policy analysis/briefing papers on issues on which TASC is working.  This will include independently analysing qualitative and quantitative data and interpreting and drawing conclusions from empirical analysis;
  • Identify and develop opportunities for TASC in relation to its current research and policy programme;
  • Work with individuals and groups of academics, policymakers and civil society activists in support of TASC’s operational goals. This may include establishing and working with advisory groups, liaising/managing contracted/outsourced work with individual experts, and working with colleagues in partner organisations;
  • Provide co-ordination, research and drafting support to external experts in the preparation of policy positions;
  • Research and draft a variety of materials for different audiences, including media, academic conferences, civil society organisations, political parties and politicians;
  • Update TASC’s website with respect to own work and activities;
  • Liaising with the Director, undertake public presentations and media-related activities;
  • Work with other TASC staff on the development of funding proposals and on organisational development as required;
  • Undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
