Executive Legal Officer to the President of the Court of Appeal – deadline 27 November 2014

The post of Executive Legal Officer to the President of the Court of Appeal exists to provide legal and administrative support to the President of the Court of Appeal. In conjunction with the private secretary to the President of the Court of Appeal, the Executive Legal Officer ensures the smooth running of the Office of the President of the Court of Appeal.

Examples of the duties to be carried out by the Executive Legal Officer to the President of the Court of Appeal are set out below. Please note that this is not a definitive list of duties.

  • Provide support to the President of the Court of Appeal and other members of the Court of Appeal;
  • Ensure all legal research is carried out to the highest possible standard, providing the President of the Court of Appeal with concise but comprehensive information and within the deadline requested;
  • Any preparatory work required for speeches, lectures and forewords for the President of the Court of Appeal;
  • Arrangements for conferences, either at home or abroad, and organise protocol matters;
  • Assist with correspondence received by the President of the Court of Appeal in a timely and appropriate manner;
  • Manage relevant IT projects when requested;
  • Act as contact point in the Office of the President of the Court of Appeal for national and international organisations and institutions and facilitate Court of Appeal's participation in selected programmes;
  • Carry out duties, as instructed, with regard to issues such as liaison with the media, Freedom of Information etc;
  • Deal with sensitive information about cases and sensitive issues in the office and treat the material with due care recognising that it is often confidential.
