Conference: Class Actions in Ireland – 26 November 2014

Date: 26November 2014

Venue: Mansion House, Dublin 2

Cost: €195 plus VAT

Currently our legal system does not provide for what are commonly known as 'class actions'. However, the European Parliament has adopted a Resolution calling for a proposal in the field of collective redress which is intended to help citizens and companies claim damages if they are victims of infringement of the EU.
Although the Irish government has avoided the introduction of class action procedures, this half day CPD seminar will take a look at which kind of class action the government should permit in compliance with the European Commission Recommendation on collective redress mechanisms.

It is the aim of this event to produce a White Paper for presentation to government.

This event will focus on the following:

  • Identifying the need for class actions in Ireland
  • What type of class action is the government likely to introduce?
  • Class actions are very much a consumer tool in litigation for enforcing rights - rights so far denied in Ireland?
