Assistantship in Law - Trinity College Dublin - Deadline 14 June

A job opportunity will arise in June to commence work on a contract for services basis as a legal assistant / academic researcher for a Senior Counsel and fellow in the School of Law at Trinity College Dublin. The position is on a contract for services basis and is a full or almost full-time position with flexibility. The successful candidate should ideally be available to commence in June or July. Over the years, various students have taken this post for a period between 6 months and a year prior to commencing postgraduate study, pursuing training contracts or emigration. 
 
The role may appeal especially to those with an interest in the areas of European Union law, public law or jurisprudence and who would like to obtain experience in both academia and professional legal practice and administration. In the past this broad level of experience has benefited students when applying to postgraduate courses and training contracts at Irish and international law firms. Of the past five assistants recruited, three went on to a top law firm in Ireland and one to the UK (two via postgrad in UK and USA) and the current incumbent is due to depart on a Fulbright scholarship to the USA.
 
The candidate must ranks towards the upper end of their class (top 15%). It may suit candidates who feel that they could benefit from an additional application period in which to pursue their aspired career choice whilst gaining meaningful work experience.
