Caseworker Internship, Irish Refugee Council - Deadline 16 August

The Irish Refugee Council (IRC) is Ireland’s only national non-governmental organisation which specialises in working with and for refugees in Ireland. The IRC is currently looking for one full time and one part time caseworker for a 6-month unpaid internship (with expenses). The role is to provide information and support to asylum seekers and refugees on a range of issues including the asylum application process, direct provision accommodation and family reunification.

Role description:

  • Assisting in providing information and assistance to asylum seekers and refugees and supporting the work of the Information and Referral Service Co-ordinator
  • Referring asylum seekers and refugees to specialised agencies, the IRC Independent Law Centre and other solicitors.
  • Completing and maintaining files and the case management system
  • Contributing to the overall work of the Irish Refugee Council

Relevant training will be provided to the successful candidate who will gain valuable knowledge and experience in the area of refugee protection and the Irish asylum process.

Remuneration: Travel and lunch expenses

Criteria: Commitment to human rights

  • Fluent in English – competence in other languages an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Knowledge of the Irish asylum and immigration law an advantage
