INTERIGHTS seeks Legal Director - deadline 28 April, London

The Legal Director plays a key role in developing and implementing INTERIGHTS legal strategy, and ensuring quality and consistency in INTERIGHTS’ legal submissions. The role is responsible for managing, supporting and motivating the Legal Department staff, promoting a positive and supportive working environment as well as overseeing and managing designated budgets. As a member of SMT the Legal Director will play an active role in corporate decision-making, business planning, budget setting, communications and strategy. The Legal Director works with the Head of Fundraising to develop proposals for and maintain relationships with funders and is responsible for developing and maintaining external relationships with professional partners and opinion formers.

You must be a legal professional with experience of litigating before regional and international human rights mechanisms as well as have experience of critically evaluating legal submissions and provision of feedback and support to legal professionals. The successful candidate must have an understanding of, international and regional human rights law and mechanisms, human rights issues and the human rights movement as well as an understanding of the strategic use of litigation as a tool to promote human rights.

This is post is based in our office in Aldgate East, London, commencing in August 2013. International travel is a requirement of this role.

Salary £52,507 per annum
