Irish Penal Reform Trust Internships, Dublin – Deadline 14 December

The Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) is Ireland's leading non-governmental organisation campaigning for the respect of human rights in the penal system, and for imprisonment to be used only as a last resort. We publish a wide range of policy and research documents; we campaign vigorously across a wide range of penal policy issues; and we are the leading independent voice in public debate on the Irish penal system.

In 2013, we will be seeking to build on achievements in 2012, a year which saw many positive developments in the area of penal reform. Highlights from our activities during 2012 included: a celebration of arts in prison in the Abbey Theatre (Feb); the ‘Know Your Rights’ prisoners’ rights information project, in tandem with the ICCL (March-June); the Annual Lecture in Kilmainham Gaol (Sept); radical proposals on reform of remission and parole (Oct); and the launch of our new research report on the children and families of prisoners (Nov); along with much more.

We are now seeking an intern to work as part of the IPRT Team from Feb to June 2013!

Interns work as an integral part of the IPRT team, supporting our research and policy as well as communications and campaigns activities. Internships with IPRT are offered on a 5-month basis, working 14-21 hours a week. Internships are unpaid, and unfortunately IPRT is not in a position to contribute to interns’ costs of living or accommodation in Dublin. Full details available here: IPRT Internship policy and guidelines.
