Children’s Rights Alliance AGM - 29 May, Dublin

The Children’s Rights Alliance will hold its Sixteenth Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 29 May.  Formal AGM business will run from 2.00pm to 3.00pm and is open to member organisations only.

At 3pm (following formal business) the Alliance will, for the first time, welcome friends to attend two keynote addresses. This year Professor Michael O’Flaherty, Chief Commissioner of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission, will speak on the importance of civil society groups engaging in human rights shadow reporting.  Professor O’Flaherty is also a member of the UN Human Rights Committee and his input will be timely, as the Alliance awaits the Government's Third State Report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and prepares to consult with members on its own Shadow Report.

The second speaker, Professor Aoife Nolan from the Nottingham Human Rights Centre, will address the Alliance on the topic: Children's Rights after the Financial Crisis: A Call to Arms for the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

If you are interested in attending this event, please contact Louise Dromey, Office Manager at the Children’s Rights Alliance by 5pm, Thursday, 24 May 2012. Tel: 01 662 9400 Email: louise@childrensrights.ie
