NUI Galway Professor of Human Rights Law - deadline 12 April

The National University of Ireland Galway seeks to appoint a Professor of Human Rights Law and Director of the Irish Centre for Human Rights, within the School of Law.

This position is one of 2 Professorial appointments being advertised within the School of Law. The appointments are part of a strategic investment being made by the University to help further enhance the teaching and research reputation of the School of Law.

The Centre, like the University, strongly values its research mission. Staff members are encouraged to develop and pursue a strong and committed research agenda and to foster high standards of scholarship within our student body. Staff members are engaged in research in a number of fields including: human rights, international criminal law, international humanitarian law, peace operations, ethnic conflict, political violence and transitional justice, socio-legal studies, Islamic law, Middle Eastern studies.

The successful applicant as Professor of Human Rights Law will:

  • provide leadership and take up the appointment of Director of the Irish Centre for Human Rights and have the capability to lead the Centre into the future; 
  • actively contribute to the teaching and research mission of the Irish Centre for Human Rights, School of Law, the College of Business, Public Policy & Law and the University; 
  • foster collaboration in teaching and research within the Centre, School, College and University sector, locally, nationally and internationally
