Irish Refugee Council seeks Solicitor and two Legal Officers, deadline 15th April 2011

Solicitor (1)

The solicitor will work as a full member of the independent law centre which the IRC is due to open and who will work under the supervision of a Senior Solicitor. His/her responsibilities will, from time to time, include representation at the Refugee Appeals Tribunal (or its replacement) and assisting in the identification and preparation of cases for Judicial Review. S/he will also fully participate in the advocacy work of the organisation and in aspects of the capacity building, particularly to support other lawyers who practice in this field.

Legal Officers (2)

The Legal Officers will be a crucial part of the law centre team with a Senior Solicitor and Solicitor. The Legal Officers will work under the supervision of a Senior Solicitor but will have their own caseload, particularly for dealing with cases at the first level (initial applications) but also responsible for participating in the advocacy work of the organisation (e.g. with government officials) and supporting the work of NGOs in this field.

Terms and conditions

The following terms apply to all posts: the posts are available on fixed term contracts until 31 December 2013 on a salary range of €30,000 - €40,000 (depending upon experience) and will be based at the IRC office in Dublin. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Holiday entitlement is 25 days per calendar year.
