Ireland CERD examination Geneva February 22 & 23 2011

The Ireland CERD presentation and examination will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday February 22, and the morning of Wednesday February 23, in Palais Wilson, Geneva. A meeting with NGOs from the countries to be examined that week, (which will probably include Norway and Serbia), will take place on Monday morning February 21, also in Palais Wilson. NGOs should arrange their own lunch time briefings with Committee members on February 22, prior to the presentation and examination.

The formal process will consist of a presentation by the leader of the Irish delegation , followed by questions and comments from Committee members. The Irish Human Rights Commissioner will then make an intervention, directly afterwards or the following morning, time permitting. The State delegation will then have an opportunity to respond to Committee questions and there will be further dialogue and questions followed by closing comments and remarks by the rapporteur for Ireland.Any group submitting a shadow report needs to do so as soon as possible. Persons considering attending are advised to register.
